Half the Bet

Trump voters bet that he would go to Washington and shake things up. Trumps promises would then lead to better opportunities in their lives.

They won the first part of their bet. Washington is not in a status quo mode and is likely changed permanently in some ways. For example the imperial presidency is likely to be greatly diminished and Congress will assert itself into the void.

The second part of their bet is clearly fading quickly. Even if Trump's promises were sound to begin with his approach of using chaos, deceit, and rage will simply not create effective governance. His supporters are doomed to lose that half of the bet.

Only having the first half of the bet will likely make their lives worse and when they begin to feel that sense of dread and shame from being duped Trump is doomed. The question is, when will they begin to feel it?
